US Bank moves USBDC across borders on Stellar, but only inside its own walls

The live payment linked the bank's North American and European entities while testing minting, redemption and issuer controls.

  • U.S. Bank successfully conducted a pilot cross-border payment using its USBDC stablecoin between its North American and European entities on the Stellar blockchain.
  • The internal test validated the bank's ability to manage token minting, redemption, freezing, and clawback, while integrating with existing financial infrastructure.
  • While demonstrating institutional capabilities, the pilot was an intercompany transaction with no customer access or commercial rollout date disclosed.
